The foundation for the new Sacred Heart Church has been successfully laid, according to a report in this week’s Catholic Standard.
The report cited the building committee as saying that the foundation now has to rest for three weeks. The steel frame will then be installed on the Main Street building. The Catholic Standard report said that the building committee currently has just enough funds for this frame.
In the first phase of fund raising, the committee gathered $30M of the estimated $85M required.
The iconic wooden Sacred Heart church was destroyed by fire on Christmas morning of 2004.
