ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Prolific 18-year-old Kraigg Brathwaite will lead a 14-man West Indies Under-19 squad on their tour of the United States starting Friday.
The unit, which also includes impressive Dominican all-rounder Kavem Hodge and aggressive Jamaican opener John Campbell, will play four 50-over games against the USA Under-19s at the Broward County Cricket Stadium in Florida.
Brathwaite, a solid right-hander, made his Test debut last month in the final match of the two-match series in St Kitts against Pakistan.
He was at the helm of the Under-19 squad which had a successful tour of Dubai earlier this year, beating Australia 2-1 in a three-match one-day series and in a one-off three-day Test.
The squad, which leaves the Caribbean today, will open their series on Friday and follow up with matches on July 10, 12 and 14 before returning on July 16.
Legendary former West Indies and Jamaica captain Courtney Walsh has been appointed team manager with Roddy Estwick taking charge as coach.
Squad: Kraigg Brathwaite (captain), Sunil Ambris, Ronsford Beaton, John Campbell, Derone Davis, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Jerome Jones, Kieron Joseph, Steven Katwaroo, Amir Khan, Kyle Mayers, Donovan Nelson, Ramon Senior.
