The Rotary Club of Stabroek, Georgetown elected a new president and board of directors for the year 2011 to 2012 last Monday.
According to a press release from the Club, outgoing president Anand Harrilall told the gathering that he was privileged to have held the post, particularly during the group’s fifth anniversary.
He said the Club focused on functional literacy among youth over the past year.
Incoming president Patricia Plummer charged the gathering to incorporate Rotary International Presi-dent Kalyan Banerjee’s theme for 2011 to 2012—to “Reach within to Embrace Humanity”—in their service.
In addition, District 7030 (Caribbean) Assistant District Governor for Guyana Ivor O’Brien congratulated the Club on its achievements, noting that it had been awarded ‘Best Club in the District.’ He also challenged the Club to better its achievements in the coming year.
The newly installed board comprises Plummer, president; Harrilall, immediate past president; Luana Falconer, secretary and president elect; Prince Clarke, treasurer; Grace McCallman, assistant secretary/treasurer; and Colin Thompson, Coby Frimgpong, Sharon Laljee and Lenny Shuffler, directors.
The induction ceremony was hosted at the Savannah Suite of the Pegasus Hotel.
