Inderjeet Ramjeet, 34, known as ‘Cruiso,’ of Lot 662 Topoo Albion, Corentye was on Thursday charged with the murder of Mahendar Ally, called ‘Strong Man,’ during a ‘bush cook’ on Monday at his home village.
Ramjeet, a cane harvester, was not required to plea to the capital offence, when he appeared at the Albion Magistrate’s Court. He was refused bail by Magistrate Fabayo Azore, who remanded him to prison until August 9.
It is alleged that Ramjeet, under the influence of alcohol, had gone uninvited to the ‘bush cook,’ where he began behaving in a disorderly manner. He was later told to desist by his nephews, who were in attendance, and an argument broke out.
It was at this point that Ally intervened, telling Ramjeet to leave. It is alleged that as a result, Ramjeet picked up a knife that the men were using to break ice and stabbed Ally to his chest. Ramjeet fled the scene, but was later captured.
