The farmer, who resides at Karasabai Village, Region Nine, was not required to plead to the charge, when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. In presenting the prosecution’s case, police corporal Venetta Pindar said that on the day in question, Thomas assaulted his uncle with a spoon.

According to Pindar, Parks then lashed Thomas, who later shot him with an arrow and bow. Parks was later rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The corporal related to the court that the two were known to each other.

The unrepresented Thomas was informed that he would be remanded to prison. The case was transferred to the Lethem Magistrates’ Court for September 6.

Parks, 28, of St Ignatius, Lethem died almost instantly. The father of three was the coach/player of the Saints Football team which he had formed in his community. He had been a national under 23-footballer.
