Two employees of the New Amsterdam Branch of ANSA McAL who allegedly stole beverages totalling $3,223,252 in value were placed on $250,000 bail each yesterday at the New Amsterdam Court after they denied a charge of larceny by clerk or servant.
Supervisor Tarachand Outar and driver/salesman Parvatan Mangar were not required to plead to the indictable charge before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo.
Police Prosecutor Corporal Sherlock King said the duo between June 26 and 29 last had been entrusted with the responsibility of distributing beverage stock. Between the dates stated the supervisor checked off the items which were handed over to the driver/salesman. But a day before the auditors travelled from Georgetown to the Ancient County the local branch manager was informed that the stock was missing.
They are expected to return to court on August 8 for report.
