A 22- year-old man who allegedly stole $1M from a popular nightclub was granted $200,000 bail after making an appearance before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The allegation is that between June 20-29 at Georgetown, defendant Ryan Seales of Lot 1 D’Urban and Smyth streets, being employed as a clerk or servant at Club Latino at Hadfield and Lime streets, stole $1M, being the property of his employer Walton Perreira.
The man was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him.
No details on what transpired on the day in question were given. There was no objection to bail but it was requested in a substantial sum to ensure that the accused returns to stand trial, taking into account the alleged amount stolen.
The man was granted bail in the sum of $200,000 and he is required to report to the Brickdam Police Station every Monday and Friday at 9:00am.
The matter was transferred to Court Five for July 25 for statements.
