West Side All Stars and Squatters “The Gunners” United prevailed yesterday afternoon, in their respective West Demerara quarter-final matches, at the Dem Amstel community centre ground, in the inaugural 2011 GT&T Fast Ball knockout competition.
Led by two goals from Zevon Atkinson, West Side All Stars overcame Beavers 2-1. Goals from Shawn Williams and Kevo Adams, gave Squatters “The Gunners” United a convincing 2-0 victory over home side Den Amstel. Both West Side All Stars and Squatters “The Gunners” United will now move on to the West Demerara semi-finals which will be played on Saturday (where the finals will also be played on the same day) at the Dem Amstel community centre ground.
In the other East Coast fixtures yesterday, at Plaisance ground, Anns Grove and Vigilance Village demolished their Pepperoni Boys and Mahaica Blue Rangers Village opponents 7-0 and 4-1.
A 12th minute strike from Sean Daniels led BV Triumph United to a 1-0 victory over Calcutta Bullets.
Games continue today at the GFC, Plaisance and BV Grounds and also in the North West.
