Ravendra Persaud, 17, who was found dead on a Mahaica Creek Road on Tuesday, died as a result of a fractured skull, a post-mortem examination has revealed.
Persaud, a gardener of Lot 33 Supply Mahaica, was found on the De Hoop Road, Number 10 Village with marks of violence to his head and other parts of the body. His body was found just a stone’s throw from a wedding house, where he had been revelling hours earlier.
Crime Chief Seelall Persaud told Stabroek News yesterday that investigations are still ongoing into the matter and that an arrest is yet to be made. A motive for the killing is still to be determined.
The teen’s body was found at around 7:30am by a child, who heard Persaud’s cellular phone ringing. On investigating its origin, the child stumbled upon the body, which was lying in the grass just off the edge of the roadway.
Persaud had gone to the wedding house with other relatives, who said he later vanished. Unable to locate him, his companions left on the assumption that he was spending the night with other relatives in the area.
