US citizen Diamond Boulware was on Thursday last sentenced to 42 months imprisonment for cocaine trafficking in Guyana and additionally was fined $9M.
After initially denying a narcotics trafficking charge
Boulware decided to accept the prosecution’s facts that on May 6 at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri she had in her possession 1 kilogramme, 22 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The matter was heard by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magis-trates’ Court.
On May 8, 2009 the then 19-year-old American citizen was charged with the offence of trafficking in narcotics and was remanded to prison when she appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The teenager had pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to her at that time.
