SANDWICH, England, (Reuters) – World number one Luke Donald and second-ranked Lee Westwood were among a host of big-name players to miss the cut at the British Open yesterday.
Britain’s Donald, who won for the third time this season when he captured the Scottish Open title on Sunday, carded a 75 for a six-over total of 146 after a crushing finish saw him bogey the last four holes of his second round.
Westwood, like compatriot Donald still chasing his maiden major victory, also fell by the wayside after returning a 73 for 144.
“It’s very disappointing not to be here for the weekend,” Donald told reporters.
