Local clothing designer and art teacher Lou Ann Jackson hosts an art and craft workshop for children starting on Monday and going until August 5 at the Carifesta Sports Complex.
The workshop, which is being held in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport, is sponsored by Digicel and targets children aged 4 to 17. Its focus will be on the areas of ceramics, painting, drawing, textile design, paper craft and jewellery craft. The cost for all age groups is $8,000 and includes all necessary materials.
Applicants may register before Monday at Austin’s Bookstore, Church Street or from Monday at the Carifesta Sports Complex, Carifesta Avenue.
Jackson stated that 20 children, identified by the youth ministry, will be participating free of charge. Painting and drawing will be taught by another artist Kudzo Wilkinson while jewellery craft will be taught by jewellery designer Dean Jackson.
The classes will end with an exhibition and sale of the work done by the children and will be open to the general public.
