A man accused of robbing another of jewellery and a cell phone valued $22,500 was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation against Marlon Mars, called Marlon Christopher, is that on July 14 at Georgetown, he and another person robbed Nicholas Sewnarine of one cell phone, a silver chain and silver ring valued $22,500.
The accused was not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbery with aggravation when it was read to him by the magistrate.
The prosecution made a successful request for the accused to be remanded to prison and the matter to be transferred to Court One for July 25 for reports and fixtures.
No facts were presented to the court regarding what transpired on the day in question.
