The Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder of 16-year-old Neesa Gopaul continued yesterday as Detective Corporal Floyd Hosanna who is stationed at the Criminal Investigations Department, Eve Leary once again took the stand.
Defence Counsel Vic Puran continued his cross-examination. Hosanna is attached to the Crime Scene Unit as a crime scene examiner and investigator.
The PI was adjourned to September 13.
The lengthy adjournment has been taken because the acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry will be absent during August.
In addition, special appointed Prosecutor Pritima Kissoon announced that she will not be available until September 21. Puran suggested that another state prosecutor be appointed while Magistrate Sewnarine-Beharry added that the person will have ample time to get familiar with the case.
Neesa’s mother, Bibi Sharima Gopaul and her lover Jarvis Small were charged with the teen’s murder.
