A locally-based Italian, accused of robbing a woman of $1.3M worth of cell phones and other items, was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation against Domino Alphie Terisi is that on June 16, at Georgetown, being armed with a knife, he robbed Samantha Brown of a quantity of cell phones valued $837,000 and other items all totalling $1.3M. The items are property of Devanand Singh.
The accused, who resides at 1R Second Street, Subryanville, Georgetown, was not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbery under arms when it was read to him. His attorney, George Thomas, requested that his client be granted bail in a reasonable sum on the grounds that he had no antecedents, posed no flight risk, had a fixed address and had been cooperating with police investigations.
No details of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court. However, the prosecution objected to the accused being granted his pre-trial liberty, noting that he had similar matters before the court.
After listening to the submissions, the magistrate remanded Terisi and the case was transferred to Court One for September 9.
