Over 13,700 motor vehicles are still to be licensed, according to the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA).
In a press release, the GRA announced that a list with the requisite vehicle registration numbers would be sent to the Commissioner of Police, for assistance in enforcing compliance by those named.
The figure represents 14% of vehicles to be licensed for the period, the GRA said in a statement, adding that it represents “an unacceptably large number of vehicles still to be licensed.”
This is even after the fact that the GRA gave a three-week extended grace period.
The release also stated that sale of vehicle licences continues daily at the GRA offices. Motorists will be required to pay an additional late fee of 10% of the cost of the motor vehicle licence, to cover administrative costs.
