This will be one of the last photographs ever taken of the Bourda Anglican church before it is razed to make way for that most secular of modern structures – the shopping mall. Built in 1884 to serve the spiritual needs of the working class population of Bourda ward, the Anglican diocese recently sold the church to a businessman. Its passing will mark the end of an era, and impoverish the landscape of an area which has associations dating back to the plantation. (Photo by Aubrey Crawford)
