Roy Campbell, who was out on bail on an assault charge, was on Monday remanded after new charges were laid against him.
Campbell, who appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistratesโ Court yesterday, was charged with assault and threatening behaviour.
It was alleged that on July 14, at Charlotte Street, Georgetown, Campbell unlawfully assaulted Deon Campbell and on the same day, made use of threatening language towards Campbell.
Attorney George Thomas, who represented Roy Campbell, explained that his client was previously placed on $100,000 bail, when he appeared recently in court charged with assault to cause actual bodily harm on June 29 involving the same complainant.
Thomas further asked the magistrate to grant Campbell his pre-trial liberty, since the issue arose under the same circumstances.
However, Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, objected to bail on grounds that the defendant may commit similar offences against the complainant.
Magistrate Octave-Hamilton later remanded Campbell. He is to return to Court 1 on October 11.
