At about 02:00h today, police ranks responded to a report of burglary in a house at Narine Street, Better Hope North, East Coast Demerara. According to a police press release, upon entering the building the ranks were confronted by Kawal Singh who was armed with knife.
The release stated that Singh made efforts to escape and was shot. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he succumbed while receiving medical treatment.
Persons in the area this afternoon said that Singh, 24 known as ‘Lil Bai’ or ‘Gazette’ was known for jumping into people’s houses, and up to yesterday he was told that “you nah go dead in yuh own bed, somebody go murda yuh”.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
