Winston George and Quince Clarke found themselves medalling for Guyana in Track and Field at the ongoing Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) Games in Venezuela yesterday. George, who trains at the Police Athletic Club and runs the 200 and 400 metres, was seemingly the outstanding performer at the event gaining a silver medal in the 400m. He clocked 45.86s in the 400m, a new personal best time which eclipsed Stephan James 47.27s time at the Pan American Games this year for the fastest 400 metres time by a Guyanese for the year. Meanwhile, Clarke, who trains at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and competes in the 100 and 200 metres, sprinted his way to a bronze medal in the final clocking 10.6s in the process he finished ahead of his GDF counterpart Rupert Perry who finished fifth in the final with 10.7s.

โ€œRight now we are just proud and happy of what we did out their,โ€ Clarke told Stabroek Sport via telephone yesterday.
