Bouterse announces national clean-up campaign

PARAMARIBO – A “great campaign of our country” will be carried out as the “next large-scale activity that will also be a pillar of Our Suriname in Transformation.” President Desi Bouterse said this in his speech at the official start of the nation-wide house construction program. The President stated that the experiences of the past will be utilized, such as letting students earn extra money during the school vacation so they can buy school supplies. The campaign’s theme is “A healthy environment for a healthy mind and a healthy body”.
