Plans are underway for the second Annual Neal and Massy 10Km road race and 5Km Health Walk to be staged in early September.
Deo Persaud, Chief Executive Officer of the Neal and Massy Group, made the announcement during the re-opening of the CCS Store Saturday at the City Mall.
Persaud said that the event would take place on September 4 from AINLIM head office at Ruimveldt to Providence, East Bank Demerara and return to place of origin.
Guyana’s top distance runners Cleveland Ford and Alika Morgan were victorious in the men’s and women’s categories as most of the country’s leading runners took part when the inaugural event was held last year in association with Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG).
According to Persaud, this year’s event is expected to be bigger with greater emphasis being made to attract walkers as the group moves to promote Health and Wellness.
Last year close to 70 participants faced the starter including race competitors, joggers and walkers.
Persaud, who was among the participants, said this year more employees within the Neal and Massy Group will be encouraged to take part. An official launch is planned for this month to promote the event.
