SASOD hosting workshop on human rights and equality law

The Society Against Sexual Discrimination (SASOD) is inviting students of law and related fields to participate in a training workshop on human rights and equality law.

In a press release, SASOD said it is partnering with Equal Rights Trust with support from the European Union under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights Fund to implement a project titled ‘Empowering Civil Society to Challenge Homophobic Laws and Discrimination Against LBGTI Persons.’ As such, it is inviting human rights defenders and rights-supportive individuals to participate in the three-day workshop which will be facilitated by Dr Arif Bulkan of the Faculty of Law, University of the West Indies (UWI) and Tracy Robinson, Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Law, UWI. Participants must possess a strong passion and support for human rights; have completed secondary education and must be available to participate for the three-day period. The workshop starts August 9 and runs until August 11 in Georgetown, from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

According to the release, expressions of interest (letter outlining interest along with resume) must be submitted by email to sasod.officer@gmail.com or hand delivered to SASOD, C/o CIDA PSU Building, Main and New Market streets, Georgetown. Applications must be clearly marked “Expression of Interest.” The deadline for submission is 4pm Thursday.
