Two men were yesterday remanded over the murder of a Hogstye, Corentyne farmer and a third suspect was found dead from a bullet wound.
Relatives of the suspect who was wanted in connection with the shooting murder and was found dead around 3 pm on Monday are preparing for his funeral later today.
Reports are that the bloodied remains of Jeeto ‘Bobo’ Seelall, a labourer of Alness, Corentyne were discovered in the Alness backdam with what appeared to be a gunshot wound near his heart.
Results of a post-mortem examination confirmed that he died from a perforated heart due to gunshot injuries. A loaded shotgun was found next to his remains and there are suspicions that he shot himself.
Seelall, a labourer was on the run following the shooting to death of Shawn Fraser, 38, and his younger brother, Odwin Bindah, 34, of Adventure around 5 pm last Wednesday.
The body of Fraser of Hogstye was laid to rest yesterday while Bindah is still a patient in the Intensive Care Unit of the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Reports are that Bindah had recognized the attackers as Krishna called ‘John,’ his son, Romel Krishna and Seelall.
Krishna was arrested shortly after along with seven other persons [who were later released] while Romel surrendered the following day in the company of his lawyer.
They were both charged with the capital offence when they appeared before Magistrate Krishndat Persaud at the Whim Magistrate’s Court yesterday. They were remanded to prison and are scheduled to make another appearance on August 22.
Seelall’s sister, Raouti Seelall, 29 of Rosignol, West Berbice told Stabroek News that she lost contact with him after he moved out of their father’s home a few years ago.
She said their mother died when he was just three-years-old and their grandmother took her and her three brothers into her care at her home at Rosignol. Her father who consumed alcohol heavily went there and took the boys back to his home.
After her two older brothers got married and moved on with their lives, Seelall, her younger brother went to live with Krishna and his family and worked with them in their cattle and cash crop business.
Ganesh Seelall, the eldest brother told this newspaper that his brother did not smoke or consume alcohol but yet he did not have a stable life. Although they lived in the same area, he had not seen Seelall for a few months.
He said after the body was found he made a report to the Whim Police Station.
