Executives of the Lusignan Golf Club and associates of outgoing Canadian High Commissioner Francois Montour will be in action later today in a farewell tournament in honour of the diplomat at the Lusignan Golf Club starting at 13:00 hours.
The golfers will be looking forward to improved weather after rain sidelined the players in Monday’s planned event.
The players will battle over 18 holes in what is anticipated to be a keenly contested tournament.
The lineup will include William Walker, Patrick Prashad, Carlos Adams, Maurice Solomon, Dr. Ram Singh, Colin Ming, Ian Gouveia, Albert Semple, Mark Lashley, Chatterpaul Deo, Imran Knan, Ronald Bulkan, Bhowlawram Deo, Mohanlall Dinannauth, Mike Gayadin and Andre Cummings.
Chairman of Banks DIH Clifford Reis said that it is a fitting tribute to Montour who has had an enjoyable stint as a diplomat and also as an ardent golfer who competed in many tournaments at the Lusignan Golf Club.
Montour has won several tournaments since becoming a member of the LGC and would be remembered by colleagues for this enthusiasm on the course.
Reis said that senior officials of the LGC and other business executives will be making a donation to a charitable organization at the end of the tournament.
Banks DIH will provide drinks and snacks for the players and caddies.
Montour is expected to leave Guyana this weekend for Canada.
