Pele Gold, BK International Western Tigers A, West Front Road and West Demerara United all advanced to the next round at the close of part of GT&T’s Fastball competition on Sunday at the GFC Ground.
Pele Gold edged Mocha Arcadia All Stars 2-1 in a sudden death penalty shootout after the score line was locked nil-all at the close of regulation time. BK International A’s match also was decided on penalty kicks after goal-less halves. They defeated Ann’s Grove 1-0 with the goal coming off the boot of Travis Bess.
West Front Road’s Andrew Rodney ensured that his team advanced when his sudden death penalty was on point against Grove while West Demerara’s Jason Critchlow needled Broad Street in the 12th minute to win the game 1-0.
Meanwhile, the Round of 16 games will continue at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground tomorrow with Adam’s Rockers playing Daddy’s Enterprise; Golden Stars tackling Pioneers; Amelia’s Ward A coming against Castello Schemers and BV/Triumph United battling Bakewell Topp XX A.
The quarter finals are set for Friday at GFC Ground while the grand final and semis will bring the curtains down on the tournament at the Guyana National Stadium on Sunday.
