Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton on Tuesday remanded a man accused of having an unlicensed gun and ammunition and attempting to commit a felony with the said objects, when he appeared in court to answer the charges.
The allegation against Kelman Sertima is that on July 6, at Aranka Backdam, Essequibo, he had in his possession an unlicensed .38 revolver, a 9mm ammunition and three .38 special ammunition without licences.
Further, on the said day, Sertima is accused of attempting to commit a felony.
The allegation is that he, being armed with a gun, attempted to rob Vidjai Persaud. The accused denied the charges when they were read to him in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
No details of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.
Sertima was ordered to appear in the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on August 5.
