(Barbados Nation) An elderly man and his son-in-law were killed on Tuesday night in St George by two masked gunmen.
Dead is 79-year-old Arthur “Fred” Chaderton of Salters and Metamara Stock, a 42-year-old Austrian who was on holiday with family members.
Reports indicate that Chaderton was shot to death at the entrance of his home around 7:25 p.m., while his son-in-law died minutes after arrival at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) with gunshot injuries.
Sources told the MIDWEEK NATION on Tuesday night that it is believed the killers went to the wrong residence and may have been targeting Chaderton’s brother, the owner of the Bridge Supermarket at Charles Rowe Bridge in the same parish. One driveway leads to the residences of both Chaderton brothers.
Reports are that last Saturday night two masked men held up and robbed the Bellyful Barbecue Restaurant at Charles Rowe Bridge.
Just two Sundays ago, a Cane Garden, St Thomas family who operate a business in Bridgetown was held at gunpoint and ordered to lie face down by two masked men who demanded money. No one was hurt, and the masked men escaped with an undisclosed sum of money.
Tuesday night’s killing followed the shooting of three people on Monday that included that of a woman who remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Seandette Bennett, 27, of 10th Avenue, New Orleans, St Michael was shot in the stomach during a domestic dispute. Residents reported hearing at least three explosions just outside Bennett’s home around 7:40 p.m.
Earlier, Don Blackman, 39, of Greenfield, St Michael, and Amery Blackman, 22, of Waterford Housing Area in the same parish were both shot outside the Psychiatric Hospital around 4:45 p.m. during the climax of Grand Kadooment.
Don suffered a gunshot injury to the right side of his buttocks, while Amery was wounded in the left ankle.
About an hour later, Anthony Grimes, 39, of Rock Hall, St Thomas, was rushed to the QEH in serious condition after being stabbed in the neck while on Spring Garden Highway.
