Writers in Concert is launching a five-day creative writing workshop on Monday, August 8 in the Conference Room of the National Library.
In a press release the group said the project aims to encourage more local writing and to help market and publish the work of local writers. A senior official from the Ministry of Education will give the feature address at the UNESCO-sponsored course. It will be held from August 8 to August 12 between 9am and 3pm and will be supervised by Writers in Concert headed by Petamber Persaud.
According to the release, there are 45 registered participants including two visually impaired persons. The workshop will explore genres of writing including poetry, fiction and children’s literature. There will be three groups of participants: an open category, an under-18 group for emerging writers and a category focusing on writing for children.
