The body of an elderly woman, who went missing, was yesterday morning found in a decomposing state in a drain not far from her home.
Dead is Eunice Hubbard, 64, of Queenstown Village, Essequibo Coast and the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Police said in a press release yesterday that the woman was found in a trench at St. John Street, Queenstown, around 6:45am.
Her body is at the Essequibo Funeral Parlour awaiting a post-mortem examination, the release said.
According to information reaching Stabroek News, Hubbard spent last Saturday at her daughter’s Queenstown home and left sometime in the afternoon for her home.
Relatives went to church the following day and after not seeing her there, they started looking for her. After she was not found, a report was made to the police later that day.
Relatives continued the search yesterday afternoon and found Hubbard’s decomposing remains in the trench located at the side of the road the woman had to use to get to her home.
Stabroek News was told that she was last seen walking along that road on Saturday afternoon in the company of her partner. A relative, when contacted, said “you know as much as we do.”
