JAMZONE MASTERS’ CUP…

As part of their preparations for this weekend’s two-day Jam Zone Masters’ Cup T20 cricket competition at the Guyana National Stadium, the teams involved have been participating in warm-up matches before Friday’s  semi-finals.

On Saturday, Gizmos & Gadgets Georgetown Pitbulls defeated Buxton by 52 runs in Buxton with West Indies all-rounder Chris Barnwell hitting four fours and five sixes in an entertaining 41-ball 79 to lead the city side to 179-6 off their allotted 20 overs.

Twin hauls of 2-23 from Steven Jacobs and Jason Heyliger ensured that Buxton were limited to 133-8 off their 20 overs in reply.

Foo, who helped Guyana secure their first Champions League T20 qualification last year, enabled his side to overhaul DCC’s highly competitive 195 for 4, scoring 197 for 6 in reply.

Gizmos & Gadgets Georgetown Pitbulls will oppose New Line Cavaliers in the first semi-final from 17:00hrs before Hits and Jams All Stars face the Universal DVD Berbice Titans from 21:00hrs in the second semi-final.

The third place play-off is fixed for Sunday from 16:00hrs before the teams clash for the $2 million first prize in the final four hours later.
