An explosive 17-ball 49 from Derwin Christian and a 35-ball 49 from Shemroy Barrington helped the Gizmos and Gadgets Georgetown Pitbulls team to a four-run win against Hits & Jams All Stars at the Demerara Cricket Club ground yesterday.
The match was part of the teams’ preparation for tomorrow’s Jam Zone Masters’ Cup T20 cricket semi-finals at the Guyana National Stadium.
Steven Jacobs made 39 from 28 balls and Trevon Griffith scored 22 from 16 balls as the Pitbulls reached 192-5.
Leon Johnson was the chief wicket taker for the HJ All Stars team with 3-37 from his four overs of leg spin.
Johnson then scored his second consecutive warm up match half century with an attractive 38-ball 57 (4×4, 5×6).
He was supported by Jeetendra Sookdeo (31 from 20 balls) and Robin Bacchus (33 from 16).
Jacobs 2-47, Kellon Carmichael 1-28 and Griffith 1-10 shared the wickets for the HJ All Stars.
The Georgetown Pitbulls team will face the New Line Cavaliers line-up in tomorrow’s first semi-final from 17:00hrs before the HJ All Stars battle the Universal DVD Berbice Titians in the second semi-final.
The third place play-off and Final are scheduled for Sunday at the Stadium and tickets cost $1,000 for the first day and $1,500 for Sunday. All tickets will cost double the price on match day.
