The Government of Guyana is donating US$25,000 in response to the UN’s Consolidated Appeal for Somalia to provide aid in the wake of a severe famine that has affected the southern parts of that country and a drought in parts of the Horn of Africa.
In a press release the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the Guyana Government stands in solidarity with the people in the affected territories. Government also hopes that quick and adequate responses from the international community to the UN agencies and international organisations will be forthcoming to prevent the crisis from escalating.
