BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Reigning champions Trinidad & Tobago stayed on course for their third straight WICB Regional Women’s One-day title with a six-wicket victory over St. Lucia in the semi-finals.
T&T, under the leadership of West Indies Women’s captain Merissa Aguilleira, will face Jamaica, under the captaincy of West Indies Women’s all-rounder Stafanie Taylor, in the Final tomorrow at Kensington Oval in Barbados.
In their semi-final, T&T restricted the St. Lucians to 99 for nine in their 50 overs, with West Indies Women’s vice captain Anisa Mohammed taking three for eight with her off-spin.
T&T reached their target of 100 with 89 balls to spare in the match at Weymouth-A.
In the other semi-final, Taylor led the way with an unbeaten 79, as Jamaica knocked out hosts Barbados by five wickets at Kensington Oval.
Taylor struck seven boundaries from 102 balls, as the Jamaicans, chasing 137 for victory, reached their target with 80 balls remaining.
Kyshona Knight had hit the top score of 44 not out, as Barbados were dismissed for 136 in 49.2 overs.
Elsewhere, Pearl Etienne fell for 99, and failed in her bid to take Dominica to their first win of the tournament, when Guyana beat them by 52 runs at LIME Wildey.
Etienne struck seven fours and one six from 157 balls, after Akaze Thompson hit the top score of 66, leading the Guyanese to 224 for six in their 50 overs.
In the other match, Rochelle John bowled St. Vincent & the Grenadines to a 74-run victory over Grenada at Friendship.
John snared six for eight, as Grenada were dismissed for 88 in 33.2 overs, in reply to SVG’s 162 in 49.1 overs, built around Juliana Nero’s 51.
