Dear Editor,
The life jackets in some of the passenger boats plying the Parika-Supenaam route need to be tested. I think they have outlived their time and need replacement.
This safety gear is supposed to keep you afloat in case of mishap or accidents, but many times when I travel and use these jackets I wonder how many pounds they can really float, taking into consideration the state they are in.
I hereby call on the Harbour Master to have some level of inspection done monthly on the passenger boats plying not only the route mentioned above, but all the rivers of this country where these services exist. It is worthwhile investigating and putting corrective measures in place soon.
Yours faithfully,
Andrieko Basir
