Lowell Hope and Sherlund Joseph called ‘Rudolph’ who are accused of murdering 19-year-old Kenny Creame at Monessee Backdam were yesterday remanded to prison when they appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton.
The jointly charged duo was not required to plead to the capital offence of murder which states that on August 9 at Monessee Backdam, Port Kaituma, North West District, they murdered Creame in the course and furtherance of a sexual offence, namely rape.
Hope is 28-years-old while Joseph is 18-years-old.
No facts of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.
The unrepresented defendants were informed that they would be remanded to prison. Their matter was transferred to the Port Kaituma Magistrates’ Court for November 1.
The teen miner, formerly of Two Miles, Port Kaituma was reportedly beaten to death at the Port Kaituma location.
Police in a press release on Satur-day said that the murder occurred around 23:00 hours. Investigations have so far revealed that Creame had an argument with two men during which he was beaten about his body.
This newspaper understands that there were marks of violence all over the body. He was reportedly beaten to death with pieces of wood but the details that sparked the argument remain unclear.
A post-mortem examination had revealed that Creame died as a result of blunt trauma to the head.
