A Trans Guyana Airways Britten Norman Islander skid off the runway at Port Kaituma late this morning while attempting to land during rainy weather.
Stabroek News was told that several passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated at the Port Kaituma Hospital.
Reports are that the aircraft circled the aerodrome several times before making the landing attempt.
The main landing gear (nose wheel) of the aircraft was damaged during the landing and it ended up slipping off the runway and crashing into a fence, this newspaper was reliably informed.
Guyana Civil Aviation Authority inspectors are investigating the incident.
