A minibus driver accused of stealing a quantity of sand and stone belonging to another was yesterday placed on $20,000 bail.
The allegation against Sidney Lane, 45, is that on August 5 at Pere Street, Kitty, Georgetown, he stole a quantity of sand and stone, valued $9,200 and property of Colin Clarke.
Lane, of Lot 51 Pere Street, Kitty, denied the simple larceny charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
No facts of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.
Lane’s attorney made a successful application for her client to be granted his pre-trial liberty, saying that he had no antecedents, posed no risk of flight, had a fixed address and had been cooperating with police investigations.
The father of four was placed on bail while the case was transferred to Court One for November 7.
