A 56-year-old carpenter accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on a woman was yesterday admitted to bail in the sum of $100,000 after appearing before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation against Albert Pier is that on March 16 at 11 Henry Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Seanna Bowen.
The accused who resides at the same Henry Street address was not required to plead to the indictable charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm when it was read to him by the magistrate.
No facts of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.
The prosecution had no objection to the accused being granted his pre-trial liberty but requested that bail be set in a substantial sum to ensure he returns to court to stand trial.
Pier was subsequently informed that he will be placed on $100,000 bail. His matter was transferred to Court One for November 9.
Pier was previously charged with this offence but the matter was dismissed for want of prosecution. The charge has now been reinstituted against the accused.
