A man accused of stealing $2.5M worth of raw gold and a Blackberry cell phone valued $50,000 was yesterday admitted to bail in the sum of $465,000 after appearing before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton.
The allegation against Kwesi Dodson is that on Tuesday at Four Miles Arakaka, North West District he stole from Erwin Benjamin six ounces, fifteen pennyweights of raw gold valued $2.5M, property of Wild Cat Mining Inc.
He was not required to plead to this indictable count of simple larceny.
However, he denied the second count which alleges that on the same day he stole one Blackberry cell phone valued $50,000, property of Benjamin.
No facts of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court by the prosecution.
Dodson was later granted bail in the sum of $400,000 for the indictable charge and $65,000 for the other matter.
The matters which were called at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court were transferred to the Matthews Ridge Magistrates’ Court for November 1.
