The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) male and female Rugby Sevens League continues at the National Park rugby ground tomorrow from 3:00 pm.
The men’s sevens category will see Guyana Defence Force, Yamaha Caribs and Hornets Rugby clubs, while Hornets and Caribs will contest the females.
Hornets dominated last Saturday’s league contest, winning both their games, narrowly defeating the Guyana Defence Force 10/7 in their first encounter and then easily putting away the Yamaha Caribs 24/0.
The Yamaha Caribs suffered equally at the hands of the GDF giving away 22 points without scoring.
The female category women’s sevens competition commences preparation for the North American and Caribbean Association (NACRA) Caribbean Sevens Championships scheduled to take place November 12 and 13 in Barbados.
The men’s national sevens team for the NACRA Championships will be selected immediately following the Pan American Games, while the sevens league will continue its preparation for the selection of the national sevens team for the Pan American Games Rugby Sevens, scheduled to take place in Guadalajara, Mexico from October 15-30, 2011.
Guyana Rugby Union will also launch its 10-a-side B competition next Wednesday which will exclude senior players contesting for a place in the national sevens. Kick-off is at 4.30pm.
