Radika Ramjattan’s ex-husband was yesterday charged with stabbing her to death on Tuesday night at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
Andrew Khetwaroo, 30, was not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder when it was read to him by Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court.
Ramjattan, 42, was stabbed once to the chest at her home at Tarla Dam, Meten-Meer-Zorg while she and her ex-husband were drinking along with a cousin and other individuals. Police had also revealed that a knife suspected to have been used was recovered from the scene.
Khetwaroo, a father of four, was remanded to prison until October.
A post-mortem examination performed on Wednesday on the body of the woman revealed the cause of death as shock due to stabbing.
