BASSETERRE, St Kitts, CMC – Barbados eased even closer to a successful title defence at the St Kitts Under-13 Cricket Festival when they trounced hosts St Kitts by 102 runs Friday, to record their second straight win.
In-form Hasani Newton cracked 54 to guide the visitors to 149 for seven off their allotted 25 overs after they opted to bat first at Warner Park in the third round match.
He struck five fours and a six while Jadaja Edwards stroked 21 with three fours.
In reply, St Kitts were restricted to a paltry 49 for nine with Newton returning to take four for nine and Joshua Bishop, two for five.
Nevis joined Barbados win winners’ row, beating Dominica by 21 runs at Elquemedo Willet Park.
Choosing to bat first, Nevis tallied 120 for seven with Tarique Browne top scoring with 37 and Ryani Ferguson getting 21.
Shervon Dorsette led Dominica with three for 23.
In reply, Dominica got an unbeaten 27 from Dion Burton but Azeem Bickarmajeet grabbed four for 12 to limit the score to 99 for eight.
In the day’s other game, Anguilla easily disposed of the St Kitts Development XI by 75 runs at the Edgar Gilbert Sports Complex.
