The opening of the Milo Under-23 football championship at the Tucville Playfield on Friday evening saw Beacon United, Flamingo and Fruta Conquerors claiming victories over their respective opponents.
In the first encounter Beacon United defeated Guyana Police Force 2-1.
Joshua Britton and Dellon Codagon with strikes in the 19th and 24th minute scored for Beacon while Aubrey Shepherd scored in the 48th minute for the defeated GPF side.Game two saw a 29th minute Rawle Phillips goal aiding Flamingo in securing a marginal 1-0 victory over the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).
Two goals from Dwayne Lawrence in the 19th and 33rd minute propelled Fruta Conquerors to a convincing 3-1 victory over Santos. Travis Hackette in the 78th minute scored the third Fruta goal, while Ryan Seals pulled one back in the 31st minute for Santos.
