Donna Lakeram died as a result of strangulation and multi trauma, according to the findings of Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh, who conducted a post-mortem on Friday.
According to Crime Chief Seelall Persaud, the suspect in the incident, Buronon Khan, has since been arrested and was charged yesterday.
The woman was described by her reputed husband Peter Gouveia as being very kind and loving but “as it is with everyone” she was not liked by all. He declined to comment further on the matter. Lakeram’s body was found in Semang, Issano on August 24. Police had said that Lakeram and the suspect had been consuming alcohol, when an argument ensued between them.
Meanwhile, concerning the murder of father and son Daniel Higgins Junior and Senior, Persaud noted that police are currently looking for a number of persons in relation to the incident. He continued that there are several factors which they have found as motives for the murders, which they cannot relate at this time.
Persaud also made it clear that to his knowledge the three witnesses who gave statements on the matter were never in police custody; instead they were questioned.
In terms of pharmacy owner, Harold Rachpaul’s murder, the crime chief related that they have not yet apprehended anyone, but that the motive for the murder was robbery.
The popular drugstore owner’s grandson Vincent yesterday related to this newspaper that he and his father will be reopening the store “maybe next week” and will continue with business as usual.
