The administration of the Berbice Cricket Board was earlier this week given a shot in the arm when Food for the Poor (Guy) Inc. donated a set of office furniture to the board.
The donation consisted of two office tables, two chairs and a file cabinet, a value of $100,000.
Secretary/CEO of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Hilbert Foster, who received the donation, handed over the items to BCB Secretary Angela Haniff on behalf of the charitable organisation.
Foster, who is also the BCB’s Public Relations Officer and Chairman of its Special Events Committee, said that the board was in the process of upgrading its office facilities to better fulfill its mandate and also to deal with members of the general public. Foster noted that the BCB was no longer a cricket body alone but has successfully transformed itself into a non-governmental organization with activities under the sub-headings of charity, education, social, religious and community development.
Secretary of the BCB, Angela Haniff, expressed gratitude to Food for the Poor for the assistance, noting that the organisation had only last week donated footwear and T-shirts to the board.
Haniff said that the county board was committed to cricket development at all levels and called on the other civic-minded institutions to support cricket in Berbice.
