The Interim Management Committee (IMC) to goveren cricket in Guyana for the next few month will be formed today after a meeting is held at the office of Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Dr Frank Anthony.
The meeting will be held from 10am and it was leart that the formation of the IMC will be on the agenda. At this time it is not yet known whether the minister will head the IMC or whether he will appoint another cricket official.
According to a source, the minister should appoint former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd to head the IMC. At today’s meeting, which was rescheduled due to Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, representatives from the three county boards are expected to be present.
When this publication had spoken to Lloyd he said that he was not one who finds interest in positions but he would like to be involved in the process to ensure things are cleared up as quickly as possible.
He was speaking on Tuesday after a meeting with President Bharrat Jagdeo, WICB president Dr. Julian Hunte and Sport Minister Anthony.
No official word came out of that meeting but a release from the sport ministry pointed out that a menu of measures had been discussed.
