A 34-year-old woman accused of stealing electricity was yesterday admitted to bail in the sum of $20,000 when she appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation against Michelle Marshall is that on August 26 at Georgetown, she fraudulently diverted electricity supplied by Guyana Power and Light (GPL) to her business when she was not the owner of a meter.
The resident of Lot 1773 South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge of fraudulent diversion of electricity when it was read to her by the magistrate.
No details of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.
The unrepresented accused requested bail and the prosecution had no objection.
Marshall was then informed that she would be placed on $20,000 bail. The matter was transferred to Court One for November 17.
