The Golden Jaguars and the Bajan national team are scheduled to clash for three days of exciting football beginning today through to Sunday.
Guyana’s national team and the Bajans will kick things off tonight in a World Cup preliminary fixture at the National Stadium, Providence at 8 pm.
Meanwhile tomorrow and Sunday the two countries will meet at the Masters level at the GFC Ground, Bourda. Both teams will feature former national stalwarts with Barbados being led by former captain John ‘Nobby’ Parris, George Skeete, Rodney Barker, Albert Matt and Larry Alleyne. Guyana’s challenge will be headed by Anthony Stanton, Garfield ‘Snooks’ Shepherd, Orin ‘Shortman’ Agard and Floyd “Running Man’ Cadogan with Gordon ‘Ultimate Warrior’ Braithwaite as coach.
Other football teams will also be in action on both days before the feature Masters clash. Tomorrow Pele’s Under-23 team led by Quincy Adams, Sheldon Holder and Daniel Wilson will tackle Linden’s Net Rockers Under-23 led by Clarence Huggins and Trenton Lashley.
And on Sunday the two GT&T Fastball finalists, Pele FC and Western Tigers, will meet in a 90-minute game. The Tigers will have Dwayne Alli, Sherman ‘Pluto’ David and Nedd ‘Chevy’ Fraser in their lineup while Pele FC will include Solomon Austin, Mervyn ‘Shumaka’ Liverpool, Marvin ‘Springer’ Joseph and Stellon David.
Football action begins at 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
