Carl Oosman was yesterday granted $800,000 bail at the Wales Magistrates’ Court, where he was charged with causing the death of Deonauth Seegobin.
Oosman, 37, was also arraigned on charges of failing to report an accident and failing to render assistance.
It is alleged that on August 28, he drove motor car HB 9286 in a dangerous manner, thereby causing the death of said Seegobin. It is also alleged that on the same day he failed to report an accident and that he also failed to render assistance to Seegobin.
Oosman pleaded not guilty to all three charges when they were read to him by the magistrate.
Oosman, who was unrepresented, was granted bail in the sum of $800,000.
Police in a press release had said that Seegobin, 45, was lying on the roadway when he was run over by a motor vehicle. Before he was run over, Seegobin, his brother and the driver of the vehicle, Oosman, were at a birthday party consuming alcohol.
